THE STORY OF DCC
The Story so Far…
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out…..” Hebrews 11:8 (NKJV)
Destiny Christian Centre (DCC) was launched in October 2010, when Dr Jerome and Pastor Ruth Anekwe stepped out in faith and answered the call of God to “raise a people of destiny who will love God, love people and love life”
DCC held its first service on 31st October 2010 at the Novotel St Pancras Hotel, in Kings Cross, central London. 100 adults attended the first meeting and from the outset there was the tangible presence of God, with each service characterised by intimate worship, powerful dynamic preaching and the supernatural.
2011
The church began to experience rapid growth, and within 3 months it needed a bigger venue. In January 2011 DCC moved to the prestigious Shaw Theatre (also located at the Novotel St Pancras), a state-of-the-art venue with a seating capacity of nearly 500.
2011 saw DCC hold a number of successful events and conferences such as Inspire for Women, The D-Factor and the Healing & Miracle Conference. DCC also hosted a number of world re-known ministries such as Muyiwa & Riversongsz, The London Community Gospel Choir and Premier Gospel Radio.
In June 2011 God spoke to Dr Jerome & Pastor Ruth from Genesis 13:v.14-17 about the mandate of DCC to raise up sons and daughters born in the house, and to be a planting church
14 And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; 15 for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. 16 And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. 17 Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.” Genesis 13: v.14-17 (NKJV)
In obedience to this, they again stepped out in faith and planted Destiny Christian Centre Leeds. DCC Leeds was launched on 22 September 2011 at the Leeds Hilton Hotel. It was a remarkable event with over 100 people in attendance – indeed a nation can be born in a day!!
Meeting every Thursday, in just 3 short months the congregation grew to 70-80 members to the glory of God. In March 2012 Pastors Isaiah and Adejoke Oyedele were introduced as resident pastors for DCC Leeds, and with Sunday services beginning in April 2012, these are truly exciting times for the Destiny vision in Leeds.
In October 2011 during a time of prayer & fasting, God spoke to Dr Jerome from 2 Samuel 7:10 saying “I have an “appointed place” for you; its time to believe for your own building”.
“Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime” 2 Samuel 7:10 (KJV)
Dr Jerome publicly announced this to the congregation at the DCC 1 Year anniversary service on 30th October 2011, and so began the “Our Appointed Place” vision for a permanent building.
Exactly 1 year to the day of its first meeting, DCC held its 1 Year Anniversary service with over 400 people attendance.
2011 was a year characterised by the goodness and favour of God, and saw DCC experience supernatural growth and increase, making it one of the fastest growing churches in the UK. After just 18 months, DCC has a congregation of over 450 members meeting in 2 cities, all to the glory of God.
2012
In January 2012 (with the Novotel undergoing refurbishment), DCC moved venues to the Holiday Inn Hotel in Bloomsbury, a 5-star hotel 0.2 miles from Kings Cross.
The church continues to go from strength to strength and in March 2012, held it’s first Days of Destiny conference with guests Dr Jerry Savelle and Pastor David Oyedepo Jnr.
June 2012 saw DCC host speakers from Europe, Asia, Africa and North America come together for 3 dynamic days at the Supernatural Healing & Miracle Conference, and also welcomed Pastor Terri Savelle-Foy and Rev. Celia Apeagyei-Collins for the annual Inspire Women’s conference.
On 1st May 2012 Dr Jerome opened the “Our Appointed Place” building fund, with the first offering to be received 4 weeks later. On the 27th May the people of DCC raised £198,465 in a single offering – a truly phenomenal achievement of God through such a young congregation. This is a testament to the sweat-less, supernatural grace of God upon DCC. IT IS THE LORD’s DOING……and marvelous in His eyes!!!
The future….a Supernatural Mandate with signs accompanying
Destiny Christian Centre has been given a divine mandate from God, one that is destined to impact the nations of the world.
DCC is a debt-free church with all its equipment fully paid for. We owe no man anything except the debt to love (Romans 13:8). The ministry operates in obedience to God, with every member giving liberally and with the grace of giving upon the congregation.
As a result DCC members regularly experience miraculous breakthroughs in finances, careers and business. Testimonies continually abound of cancers being healed, barren couples conceiving, premature infants being made whole, marriages and families being restored.
We believe God is raising DCC up as a model and beacon across the nations, as an end-time example of the New Testament church.
We are truly amazed and humbled by his goodness, and give God all the glory for what He has accomplished through DCC in such a short space of time.
